Gijs de Vries is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the European Institute of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He previously served as State Secretary in the Government of The Netherlands, as the Dutch Government’s representative in the European Convention, and as Chairman of the Liberal and Democratic Group of the European Parliament. He also was a senior policy adviser to EU Secretary-General/High Representative Javier Solana.
Gijs de Vries is a former Chairman of the European Security Research and Innovation Forum (ESRIF) and a co-founder of the European Council on Foreign Relations.
