Sinem Adar is an Associate at the Center for Applied Turkey Studies (CATS) of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). Adar's research focuses on political, economic and social dimensions of autocratisation in Turkey, on the one hand, and Turkish foreign and security policy, on the other. She has extensively worked on EU-Turkey relations. Dr. Adar has also written on Turkey's foreign policy activism in MENA, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia, and the Balkans. Before joining CATS/SWP, she was an Einstein Fellow at Humboldt University. Dr. Adar holds a PhD in Sociology from Brown University and a MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
