Carolin Nerlich is Senior Lead Economist in the Fiscal Policies Division at the European Central Bank’s Directorate General Economics. In 2021, she joined the inaugural team setting up the ECB's Climate Change Centre where she was coordinating the ECB’s analytical work on the macroeconomic impact of climate change. Prior to this she held various positions within the bank and worked extensively on the macroeconomic and fiscal aspects of population ageing. Before joining the ECB, she worked for the Deutsche Bundesbank and at Deutsche Bank Research. Her research interests cover fiscal policies, macroeconomics, population ageing and climate economics. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Cologne and a master degree from the University of Kiel.
