Ioannis Kefalogiannis was born in Rethymno in 1982. He is a lawyer and a Member of the Hellenic Parliament. He is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University Law School. He continued his studies at Columbia University in New York, obtaining a Master's Degree in Politics and International Relations. Following his graduation, he received training on negotiation techniques at Harvard Law School. He started his professional career in United Nations Security Council – UNSC and he continued as an attorney at law specializing in the areas of Criminal and Civil Law. In June 2012 Ioannis elected MP for Rethymno on the Nea Dimokratia ticket. He was reelected in January 2015, September 2015 and July 2019. From July 2019 until August 2021, he served as Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of the Hellenic Republic. From January 2016 to July 2019, he was the Parliamentary Spokesperson for Nea Dimokratia. He was elected Secretary of the Hellenic Parliament for three consecutive parliamentary terms. He served as a Vice President in Special Permanent Committee of the Regions, as a Member in Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs, Committee on European affairs, Committee on the Monitoring of the Social Security System and as Shadow Defense and Foreign Affairs Secretary for Nea Dimokratia. He speaks English and German.
