Charalampos Giannikopoulos is the founder and Managing Director of DCarbon. He started his career in the UK as the Sustainability Coordinator of the R&D group at Aedas, a leading global architectural firm, jumping to the business consultancy sector focusing on sustainable real estate projects. In 2011 he was involved in the inaugural implementation of LEED in Greece at large – scale commercial projects. Charalampos has significant experience in managing various international and regional commercial, industrial, educational, and infrastructure projects, including the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Healthcare projects, Masdar City's sustainable masterplan, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council development. He has managed the majority of real estate projects that have achieved certification under international rating systems like LEED, BREEAM, and WELL. Additionally, Charalampos has been involved in institutional benchmarking for REITs portfolios and developing ESG strategies for real estate investors, encompassing decarbonization and green finance frameworks. Furthermore, Charalampos is a recognized climate leader and a regular speaker at prominent conferences, where he shares his insights and expertise on sustainability and decarbonization. His contributions to the field have made him a respected figure in the sustainability community, driving forward the mission of promoting sustainable development and responsible business practices. In a personal capacity, Charalampos is a LEED Fellow, a USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) Faculty, a former member of the LEED Technical Advisory Group of the USGBC and USGBC Pro Reviewer, a founding member and member of the BoD of the SBC Greece, former Vice President of the Hellenic Chapter of ASHRAE, a LEED AP with the “Building Design + Construction”, “Interior Design + Construction”, “Operations + Maintenance”, Homes” and “Neighborhood Development” specialties, a WELL AP, a BREEAM International New Construction Assessor, a BREEAM In-Use Assessor, an EstidamaPearl Qualified Professional, a DGNB Consultant and an EDGE Expert.
