Brief introduction | Demos Antoniou Demos Antoniou is the President of the Cyprus Third Age Observatory and a dedicated advocate for active, healthy and dignified ageing, focusing on combating ageism and abuse of older people in Cyprus. His initiatives focus on raising awareness, influencing policy, supporting victims, and enhancing protection for older people, ensuring that their rights, health and dignity are consistently upheld. His efforts have a broader impact as he actively engages in European initiatives and collaborates with various organisations and policymakers to promote age-friendly policies and comprehensive support systems. Demos played a crucial role in shaping the National Strategy for Active Ageing and the National Strategy for the Health of Older People in Cyprus, partnering with the Ministry of Health, Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare and the Cyprus Third Age Council. Demos is a member of the Human Rights Committee under the Cyprus Ombudsman, the National Committee for the Health of Older People, the Cyprus Third Age Council, and the Task Force on Dignified and Healthy Ageing of AGE Platform Europe. Demos is a registered lobbyist with the Independent Authority Against Corruption of Cyprus.
