Christina Balis is Strategic Campaigns Director within the UK Government & Defence
business of KBR, a leading provider of science, technology and engineering solutions to
governments and companies worldwide. Her role involves leading the development and
execution of targeted campaigns that position KBR as a strategic mission partner to
government agencies and defence customers in the UK and Europe. She recently joined
KBR after nearly nine years at QinetiQ, where she held two consecutive roles as Group
Director of Services and Products Strategy and as Global Campaign Director for Training
and Mission Rehearsal.
Prior to joining QinetiQ in 2016, Christina was the Paris-based head of European operations
of Avascent (now part of Oliver Wyman), a global strategy and management consulting firm
specialising in aerospace, defence and government-driven markets. In-between her varied
career as a defence management consultant across both sides of the Atlantic, she worked
as vice president for strategy and corporate development at Serco Inc. and as a fellow in the
Europe Programme of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC.
Christina is a member on the Board of Directors of Systematic, a Danish provider of software
solutions to the defence and healthcare sectors. She holds an MA and a PhD in International
Relations (concentration in Strategic Studies) from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced
International Studies (Bologna, Washington, DC) and a BA (Hons) in European Business
Administration (London, Reutlingen). She is fluent in French, German and Greek, and has
published widely on issues of transatlantic defence and security. She enjoys travelling and is
an avid reader and collector of books. She has a son, Atticus, and lives with her partner
Richard in Berkshire, England.
