Andreas Vyra was born in Larnaca in 1978. He studied Public Administration and Business Administration at the University of Cyprus and earned an MBA from the University of Southampton. In 2002, he returned to Cyprus and worked in the public sector and later at the Cooperative Central Bank. In December 2016, he was elected Mayor of Larnaca at the age of 38, becoming the youngest mayor in the city's history. He was re-elected in June 2024 with 65.7% of the vote. Vyra has been actively involved in social and political organizations, having served as President of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Youth Organization and participating in the youth meetings of the European Union.
