Since starting work Seumas Kerr has circumnavigated the world as an officer cadet in the Merchant Navy, started training as a lawyer, joined the Army for a £5 bet, leaving after 35 years as a Major General. Since leaving the Army he has worked in Qatar for a year as COO for the Doha Development Company, producing the Conceptual Master Plan for Doha City. He was then a Carillion Managing Director for 12 years and is currently CEO of D Impact, a not-for-profit Company that brings Defence Companies and Government closer together to ensure that Contracts generate true Social Value. He is also a Strategic Adviser for Skanska a Swedish Construction Company and Achilles a Global Supply Chain Resilience Company. He has recently assumed the role as Chair of the Pakistan Society and is a Visiting Fellow at Durham University. He is also an Ambassador for the Open University Disabled Veterans Scholarship Fund.

He lives in Sherborne, Dorset and London. He has been married to Sue for 47 years and they have 3 grown up daughters who are all married and live and work in London.
