Omar Mohanna is Chairman of Chubb Insurance Egypt and Chairman of Chubb Life Insurance Co. Egypt, both are subsidiaries of the US multinational insurance group Chubb. He also holds the position of Chairman of Coca-Cola HBC Egypt. Additionally, he is Chairman of Prometeon Tyre Egypt Co., the largest tyre producer in Egypt and a subsidiary of the multinational tyre manufacturer Pirelli. Mohanna is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of The United Bank.
Mohanna is a member of the Board of Directors of CI Capital, a top investment banking firm in Egypt and the region. He also serves on the board of B Investments, a private equity holding company with a strong track record, and of Palm Hills Developments, one of Egypt's leading real estate development companies.
Mohanna is also the former Chairman of Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC), one of Egypt’s largest cement producers. The company now carries the name of Heidelberg Materials after being acquired by the German Multinational Group Heidelberg Cement AG, a global leader in cement production.
Mohanna’s over 25 years of commercial and investment banking experience with Egyptian and international financial institutions has culminated in the position of Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Egypt Arab African Bank (EAAB). He also served as Managing Director of Accor Hotels Group in Egypt and has been a Board member of various companies.
Mohanna is actively involved in numerous organizations that support the business community in Egypt. He is the Past President of The American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt) and currently serves as Chairman of The Egypt-US Business Council. Additionally, he is a member of The Export Development Consulting Council to the Prime Minister of Egypt, and is member of the Board of Directors of Egypt’s Tourism Promotion Authority, and of the Board of Directors of The Export Council for Chemical Industries and Fertilizers.
Mohanna has also been a member of the Board of The Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), where he chaired the Foreign Relations Committee. At the broader community level, he is a Board member of The Association for the Protection of the environment and is a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA).
Furthermore, he is a member of the board of several bilateral business councils, including The Italian Egyptian Business Council, The Egyptian German Business Council, The Egyptian Pakistani Business Council, The Egyptian Nigerian Business Council, The Egyptian Algerian Business Council, The Egypt- Poland Business Council, and is a member of The French Egyptian Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, of The Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, and of Egypt's International Economic Forum.
As an economist, banker, industrialist and active member of the business community, Mohanna has brought his knowledge and expertise to bear at the policy level in his capacity as Chairman of The Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES), the leading economic think tank in Egypt and the region.
