Curriculum Vitae Mayor I. Malandrakis He was born in 1964 in Voukolies, Chania. His father was Ioannis Malandrakis from Palea Roumata and his mother was Vasileia Malandakis, gender Polychronidis, from Glossa Kolymvari. He has three sisters, Kleanthi, Sofia, Tonia and one brother Marko. He is married to Ioanna (Vanna) Nikiforakis, a teacher of mathematics and has two children, Panagiotis, a doctor and Ilianna, a law student. He is an Economist (MSc) and he has been working at the Bank of Greece since April 1994, as Head of the Foreign Exchange Department. He has also worked at “HELLENIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS ORGANIZATION S.A., in the financial sector, until April 1994 and before that in the private sector. He is a Graduate of the Department of Business Administration of University of Piraeus. He holds a Certificate of Specialization in Marketing from the University of Piraeus. He also holds a Master's degree (Msc) from the Department of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete. He has many years of experience in the training of Adults as a certified trainer and observer of National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance, as a certified trainer of trainers from the Association of Greek Banks. He is also a certified trainer by Public Employment Agency (OAED). He has thousands of hours of presentations on the subject of Business Organization and Management, Public Finance, Public Relations, Communication Techniques, Office Organization, etc. He was also a professor at the Public Institute Professional Training of Chania for 12 years. He was involved in many social initiatives and activities, in social and labor struggles aimed in improving the daily life of the citizen. He had cooperated in the submission, coordination and implementation of a large number of co-financed projects by the EU concerned the training and reintegration into the labor market of the unemployed as well as the specialization of workers, in collaboration with Municipalities, as well as the creation of a Network of Municipalities (DEPAN). He has been, during his tenure, the Secretary of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Crete (PED of Crete), while at the same time he was the President of the Leader committee, a member of the Board of Directors of ANEK as well as a member of many committees. He participates in all the above boards and committees as an unpaid member. In addition, he has taken part in a series of conferences and workshops related to Local Government. Throughout his tenure, he has made interventions in the institutions of KEDE, but also he has written proposals to the Ministries on dozens of issues concerning the Municipality of Platanias, but also the Local Government, where several of them, have been accepted. In the Municipal Elections of 2010, he was elected Mayor of Municipality of Platanias and was re-elected in 2014, as the head of the "Citizens Self-Governing Cooperation" combination. In the 2019 elections, he was re-elected Mayor again, as head of the same combination, with a high percentage of approval from the citizens.
