Panagiotis G. Anastassopoulos is the Chief Executive Officer and recently appointed President of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Patras (OLPA S.A.), and a Board Member of the Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME). In his role, he oversees strategic planning and the implementation of development initiatives that strengthen the port’s national and international position, with a strong focus on innovation, extroversion, and sustainability. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Patras and an MBA in Business Administration from the Hellenic Open University. Since 2024, he has been pursuing an MSc in Autonomous Systems in the Port Industry at Novia University in Finland, focusing on autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and automation applied to the port industry. At the international level, he has participated in European Commission and CEDEFOP working groups on innovation and technology-enhanced learning. He is also a regular speaker at major international conferences, addressing topics such as Industry 4.0, Smart Ports, the Digital Economy, and Vocational Education and Training, while actively supporting start-up ecosystems as a mentor and workshop facilitator in Greece and across Europe. His public interventions highlight OLPA’s role as a reference point for the digital and green transformation of ports. By combining managerial leadership with academic expertise, he is steering the Port of Patras into the new era of “smart ports”. He promotes the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as autonomous vehicles and drones, the Internet of Things, big data analytics, cybersecurity systems, and green energy solutions, with the goal of boosting efficiency, strengthening security, and promoting sustainability, making OLPA S.A. a pioneer in the blue economy.
