Camille Grand is the Secretary General of the Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) since 1 September 2025. He previously served as a Distinguished Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR, 2022- 25), where he led work on defence and technology in European security and advised EU institutions, European governments, and NATO. From 2016 to 2022, Mr Grand was NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment, overseeing capability delivery, aviation, missile defence, and technology cooperation. He chaired inter alia NATO’s Conference of National Armament Directors, Digital Policy Board, and co-chaired the NATO-Industry Forum. Before joining NATO, he directed the Fondation pour la recherche stratégique (FRS), France’s leading defence and security think tank (2008–16). Earlier, he held senior posts in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Head of Disarmament and Multilateral Affairs (2006–08) and in the Ministry of Defence as Deputy Diplomatic Adviser to the Minister (2002–06) and senior adviser on nuclear policy. He was also a researcher at the EU Institute for Security Studies (EU-ISS) and the Institut français des relations internationales (IFRI). Mr Grand is an Associate Professor at the Paris School of International Affairs (Sciences Po Paris) and has taught at the École nationale d’administration (ENA) and the French Army Academy. He has served on expert groups for the EU, UN, NATO, and the French government. A recognised specialist on defence, technology, armament, NATO and EU policy, and nuclear policy, he is the author of numerous publications and a frequent commentator in international media.
