Lena Divani is a novelist/playwright and, until her resignation in 2022, was a Professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Athens, where she taught Greek and Balkan history of 20th-century foreign policy at the undergraduate level and minority issues in the Balkans at the postgraduate level.. She has published numerous monographs and a series of articles on issues of nationalism, minorities, and territorial disputes. She has been a Visiting Research Fellow at Harvard University, King’s College London, and the League of Nations Archive (UN) in Geneva. She collaborated with the Historical Archives of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs on publishing Greece’s diplomatic documents related to the anexation of Dodecanese. Additionally, she worked with the National Book Centre of Greece on a bibliographic proposal concerning the minority issue and with the Hellenic Cultural Foundation on matters related to the Greek diaspora. She is a founding member of the National Commission for Human Rights. She has also served as Vice President of the National Book Centre, the Organization for Collective Management of Literary Works, and as a board member of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT). She collaborated with the newspaper TA NEA on topics related to foreign policy and minorities and currently writes for Kathimerini. Literature and Theatre In 1994, with her short story collection "Why Don’t You Talk About Me?", she won the Mara Ralli Award for best debut in literature. Since then, she has published numerous novels, short story collections, and children's books, which have been translated into multiple languages and adapted for television. She made her theatrical debut in 2002 with "The Beautiful Angry Woman", which was shortlisted twice for the Modern Greek Play Audience Award. This was followed by "The Delicious One", "Family Law", and "Transitional Stage", which was presented in a staged reading at the National Theatre in 2009. She wrote the screenplay and hosted two historical documentary series for Cosmote History, based on her books "The Borders of Greece" and "Couples That Shaped Greek History". Her book "Working Boy" was selected in 2024 to represent Greece in the Readers for Europe initiative of the European Union Library.
