Theodoros Zachariadis is a Professor of Energy and Environmental Policy at the Cyprus Institute. He is the Acting Director of the Institute's Energy, Environment and Water Research Centre (EEWRC) as well as of the Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre (STeDI-RC). He holds a Diploma and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2017-2024 he was a member and then a Vice Chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency. During the last years, he has been listed in the top 2% of most widely cited academics globally in the field of Energy. He is the recipient of the 2009 Research Prize of the Republic of Cyprus and the 2019 Environmental Prize awarded by the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
