Angelos Syrigos (Athens, 1966) is a member of the Greek Parliament (elected in July 2019, May and June 2023 General Elections in the 1st District of Athens with the New Democracy Party). He is also Professor of International Law and Foreign Policy at the Department of International and European Studies at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Athens. He is a graduate of the Law Schools of the National University of Athens and of the University of Bristol, England where in 1994 he was conferred the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of public international law. He has served as Deputy Minister for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs (January 2021-May 2023), Secretary General of Population and Social Cohesion of the Greek Ministry of Interior (August 2012-May 2015) and Secretary of the Ministry of Education responsible for Intercultural Education (September 2007- January 2009) He has published ten books and several articles on Greek-Turkish relations, the law of the Sea, the Cyprus issue, the Balkans, minorities, migration and the Minor Asia Catastrophe. His latest book “50 Q & A on the relations between Greece and Turkey” will be published on December 2025. He is married with Dr. Eirini STAMATOUDI, Law Proferssor at the University of Nicosia and they have three children.
