George Papakyriakopoulos

CISO

Skroutz

George is a security leader who has viewed the digital world from both sides of the firewall. His journey started in offensive security, leading Red Team operations and consulting for organizations across the EMEA region. His role was to think like an adversary: simulating advanced threats to uncover hidden flaws and challenge assumptions about what was truly secure. This experience gave him an invaluable attacker's-eye view of how systems fail. After years of demonstrating risk, George pivoted his career to manage it strategically, believing the most effective security leaders are those with an attacker's mindset. This is the foundation of his approach as CISO for the Skroutz group of companies. At Skroutz, George is responsible for the holistic cybersecurity vision, from strategy and architecture to the engineering that brings it to life. His focus is a pragmatic security program that enables modern development. This means championing DevSecOps, automating controls in the CI/CD pipeline, and empowering engineers to own the security of their code. His goal is to make security a business enabler, not a gatekeeper, fostering a culture where building resilient products is a collective responsibility.
