Jette Cathrin Hopp, native in Norwegian, German, and Danish, studied architecture in the masterclass of Prof. Peter Cook and Prof. Enric Miralles at the Städelschule – Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt am Main. She is Snøhetta’s Director for Acquisition and New Projects in Europe and the UK and a member of the executive management team at Snøhetta Oslo, Norway, where she has held a central role since 2005. Jette leads significant international project developments and competitions and frequently lectures worldwide, sharing Snøhetta’s design philosophy and transdisciplinary approach. She serves as jury chair for numerous architecture competitions, is regularly invited as a critic to leading universities, and teaches at the University of Technology and Design in Wismar. She is a board member of the Schelling Architecture Foundation, was appointed President of the Jury for the 2021 Italian Architecture Prize, and is a member of the Oslo City Architecture Council as well as Chair of Kiel’s Urban Planning Advisory Council. Jette also directs Snøhetta’s Venice Studio, an annual international study programme. Her project experience includes the King Abdul Aziz Center for World Culture in Dhahran, the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo, the Elbtower in Hamburg, the Centre Monnaie “OXI” in Brussels, and the Roshen Concert Hall in Kyiv. She also led major developments such as the Operntower Düsseldorf and has been instrumental in advancing sustainable architecture in Norway through pioneering projects like Powerhouse Brattøra in Trondheim and Powerhouse Kjørbo in Sandvika – the world’s first renovated positive-energy building.
