Dr. Vasiliki Artinopoulou is Professor of Criminology in the Sociology Department of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Athens, Greece) and the former Vice Rector of the University. In 2024, Professor Artinopoulou was appointed by the Greek Prime Minister as Head of the Expert Committee on the Prevention of Violence against Children and the Confrontation of Juvenile Delinquency.She is also member of the United Nations Subcommittee on the Prevention of Torture (2020-2022 and 2023-2027) and Head of the European Regional Team. She directs the International Institute on Crime and Criminal Justice in the European Public Law Organisation. Prof. Artinopoulou has carried out research on human rights, children’s’ rights, gender-based violence, and victimology. Prof. Artinopoulou is the author of thirteen books, and more than 100 publications in peer review journals and collective volumes in English, French and Greek language.
