Martin Bijsterbosch is Deputy Head of the Euro area External Sector Division in the ECB’s Directorate-General Economics. Martin joined the ECB in 2001. He worked in various positions in DG-Economics, the ECB Representation in Washington DC and DG-Macroprudential Policy & Financial Stability. He also leads the ECB team for Greece and was extensively involved in country issues, including in several central and Eastern European EU Member States. Martin has published on the role of credit in economic activity, the economic implications of uncertainty and cross-border capital flows. He worked previously at the Bank of Canada and De Nederlandsche Bank, where he started his career. Martin holds a master’s degree in monetary economics and studied at the universities of Groningen and Siena.
