Panayiotis Zaphiris

Panayiotis Zaphiris is the Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology and a Professor in the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts. He has previously served as Dean of the School of Fine and Applied Arts and Head of the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts. Before returning to Cyprus, he was a Reader at the Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design in the School of Informatics at City University London. Prior to that, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University, where he also earned his Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). His research interests lie in HCI, with a strong focus on inclusive design and the social aspects of computing. He is particularly interested in HCI issues related to the elderly and people with disabilities. His work also covers a wide range of internet-related topics, including web usability, mathematical modelling of browsing behaviour in hierarchical online information systems, online communities, e-learning, web-based digital libraries, and social network analysis of online human-to-human interactions.
