George Kapetanakis

George Kapetanakis is the President of the Hellenic Cancer Federation – ELLOK, and Vice President of the Pieria Cancer Patients Association. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the All.Can International for the 2025 – 2026 mandate and the Globalized Patient Advocacy Group of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) for 2025 - 2026, while in the recent past (2022 – 2023) he served as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC). At the same time, he is a member of the Ministry of Health, National Cancer Registry and Clinical Studies Working Groups.
His experience 14 years earlier with cancer was the catalyst to begin a process of active participation and engagement in the support of oncology patients. Together with other patients with the same vision, he has worked consistently since 2015 to create and develop the Hellenic Cancer Federation - ELLOK, as the main representative of cancer patient organizations in Greece.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Haematology Society Foundation, and an active volunteer of the Bone Marrow Donation Volunteer Association "Orama Elpidas", promoting awareness campaigns for voluntary Bone Marrow Donation. He advocates the European perspective as a necessary and sufficient condition to effectively address the modern challenges of cancer care and reduce inequalities. Furthermore, he believes that the cooperation of cancer patient organisations at a European level can provide effective solutions to the serious problems that cancer patients face daily throughout Europe. Professionally, he is active in the field of financial services.
