Ambassador of India to the Hellenic Republic

Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon assumed his responsibilities as the Ambassador of India to the Hellenic Republic on 27 June 2023. A seasoned diplomat, Ambassador Tandon joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994. Prior to his posting in Athens, he served as Additional Secretary (BIMSTEC & SAARC) at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. His distinguished overseas assignments include postings at the Indian Embassies in Paris, Algiers, Kabul, and Moscow, as well as his role as Consul General in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. He served as India’s Ambassador to the ASEAN Secretariat from July 2018 to August 2020, and subsequently as Ambassador to Afghanistan from September 2020 to August 2021. In New Delhi, Ambassador Tandon has held several senior positions, including Under Secretary (Pakistan), Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, Director (Pakistan), Joint Secretary (PAI), and Joint Secretary (United Nations Political). He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, and is married to an officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS).
