Mr. Soumen Bagchi is the current ambassador of India to Iraq. Prior to this assignment, he has served overseas at Indian Missions in Brussels, Dhaka and San Francisco. He has served in India in the Ministry of External Affairs as a Regional Passport Officer, Director, Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary. During his tenure in New Delhi, he has handled work related to counter-terrorism, energy security, investment and technology promotion, SAARC & BIMSTEC groupings, India’s relations with S-E Asia, and with Central & West Africa. Most recently, he served as deputy & then acting Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs, a New Delhi based foreign affairs think-tank.
