Dimitris K. Xenakis is Professor of International Politics in the Department of Political Science at the University of Crete. He has also taught at the National School of Public Administration, the Department of International and European Studies at Athens Panteion University, the Department of Mediterranean Studies at the University of the Aegean, the Hellenic Open University and the National Security Academy. In the past he has served as Director of the Euro-Mediterranean Policy Unit at the Hellenic Centre for European Studies (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Vice-Chairman of the Center for Security Studies at the Ministry for Citizen Protection, Research Fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy, Strategic Analyst at the Defence Analysis Institute, International Relations and Organizations Expert at the General Secretariat for Financial Planning and Defense Investment, Scientific Advisor at the Hellenic Parliament, Member of the BoD at the Hellenic Council for Refugees and Secretary General at the Centre for Progressive Policy Research. He has contributed in international research projects and he is member in various research networks and groups in Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as, referee and/or member of the editorial board in academic journals. He has authored, among others, The emerging Euro-Mediterranean system (MUP, 2001);The Politics of Order Building in Europe and the Mediterranean (DAI, 2004);Global Europe?
