Moreno Bertoldi is a Senior Associate Research Fellow in the ISPI Geoeconomics Centre. Until September 2023, he was Adviser for International Economic and Financial Affairs in DG ECFIN, European Commission, From January 2016 to December 2021, Mr. Bertoldi served as Special Adviser to the Ambassador and Head of the economic and financial section at the Delegation of the European Union to the United States. Prior to this role, from 2007 to 2015, he was the Head of the unit responsible for the countries of the G-20, the International Monetary Fund, and the G-Groups (G7 and G20) in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission. From 2010 to 2015 he was also the European Commission representative in the G20 Framework for Growth Working Group. Mr. Bertoldi formerly served as Head of the economic and financial section at the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States (2001-2006) and Head of the political and economic section at the Delegation of the European Commission to Japan (1996-2001). He joined the European Commission in May 1990. Mr. Bertoldi holds degrees in economic analysis and economic policy from École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, and in economics and social sciences from “Luigi Bocconi” University in Milan.
