Originally from Chicago, USA, Demetrios Fotopoulos completed his BA in psychology and Greco-Roman civilization at the University of Notre Dame. He now studies in Athens as a medical student at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, seeking to become a pediatric psychiatrist. Fotopoulos spoke on social cohesion at the inaugural Greek Youth Diaspora Symposium in 2024 and now uses his role as Greek Youth Diaspora Ambassador to serve the Greek American diaspora community. In May 2025, he spoke as the master of ceremonies at the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation Gala, which is the largest US celebration of Hellenic American educational excellence. Fotopoulos is the Notre Dame Alumni Association country ambassador to Greece;he has also served on the Alumni Executive Board of the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation, acted as staff director of Fanari Camp, worked at the Consulate General of Greece in Chicago, and published award-winning academic research on Hellenic psychology topics such as migration-resilience, contemporary European-Athenian memory, and cultural heritage artifact repatriation. Fotopoulos is honored to have the opportunity to present at this year's symposium on his experience working with Ionian Village Camp to help reintroduce Hellenic-American youths to their motherland, Greece.
