Fikri Toros was born in Nicosia. He is one of the share holders of the well-known private sector Group of Companies in Northern Cyprus. He completed his education at an English public school, Rossall, and graduated from the University of Salford, where he obtained a B.Sc. (Honours) in Business Operation and Control. Upon his repatriation, he directed his family owned companies and played a crucial role in the institutionalization of their group. Fikri Toros is among the founding members of the Young Businessmen Association, Cyprus Turkish Education Foundation, and Peace Foundation. He worked voluntarily at numerous social responsibility projects, including SOS Children’s Village. Toros served as a Member of Assembly of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce for numerous terms, where he was involved in various bi-communal conflict resolution initiatives. Toros was elected as the President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce in March 2014. During his two term tenure, he contributed significantly to many social and economic policies. Throughout his Presidency, he built a sound network with various economic institutions in Turkey, Islamic Countries and the EU, not only for the business community but also for the Turkish Cypriot Community in general. Toros is known for his crucial contributions to the green line trade, as well as the economic aspects and confidence building measures within the Cyprus peace settlement process. Fikri Toros is also known for his keen interest in classical piano music. He promoted and gave numerous concerts for charity organizations. At the early general elections held on 7th of January 2018, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) for the Kyrenia District. To date he served as the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Treasury, Planning and Budget. In addition he served as a member of the Ad-hoc Committee on EU Harmonization. He is also a member of the Turkish Cypriot parliamentary lobby delegation at the European Parliament. He is fluent in English and has two children.
