Kostas Th. Skrekas was born in Megarchi, Trikala. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Construction Management from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. Since 2000, he has been active in the private sector in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. For more than 15 years, he served as Co-founder and CEO of a company in that sector, gaining significant entrepreneurial experience in management and strategic development. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament with the New Democracy party in the Trikala constituency during the national elections of May 6, 2012, and has been re-elected in every subsequent election. He ranked first in preference votes in the elections of January 2015, July 2019, and May 2023. He served as Minister of Development and Competitiveness from October 2014 to February 2015. In July 2019, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, responsible for the Common Agricultural Policy, a position he held until January 2021. On January 5, 2021, he was appointed Minister of Environment and Energy, a post he retained until May 2023. From June 27, 2023, to June 14, 2024, he served as Minister of Development. As of June 16, 2025, he is the elected Secretary General of the Political Committee of Nea Demokratia. He speaks English and French.
