Michail Bletsas Governor, National Cybersecurity Authority, Greece Michail Bletsas is the inaugural Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority of Greece, established in 2024 as an independent body. Since his appointment, he has been leading the Authority’s mission to design, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive framework of strategies and actions aimed at achieving and maintaining a high level of prevention, protection, deterrence, response, and recovery against cyberattacks targeting Greece’s critical digital infrastructure. Mr. Bletsas brings extensive experience across academia, industry, and the non-profit sector. In academia, he served as a Research Scientist and Director of Computing at the MIT Media Lab. In the industry, he has been instrumental in developing broadband access networks using advanced technologies—including one of the first ADSL testbeds and a range of wireless solutions—and has co-founded two technology startups. In the non-profit domain, he was a core member of the technical and design team behind the “One Laptop Per Child” initiative, contributing to the development of its pioneering laptop. Throughout his career, Mr. Bletsas has advised governments on technology policy and provided technical expertise to senior officials. A frequent keynote speaker at international conferences, he is also active in various civic initiatives. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an MSc in Computer Engineering from Boston University.
