George Pagoulatos is Ambassador of Greece to the OECD, chairing the Friends of Southeast Europe Group and the OECD Global Strategy Group. Prior to his appointment, in May 2023, he was Professor of European Politics and Economy at the School of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (currently on leave) and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe, Bruges. He was Director General of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) (2019-2023), previously Vice President and a member of ELIAMEP’s Board of Directors since 2013. He was Advisor on European Affairs to the President of the Hellenic Republic (2020–2023), Director of Strategy at the Prime Minister’s Office and Senior Advisor to Greece’s two non-political Prime Ministers (2011-2012). Council member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), member of the Governing Board of the European Policy Centre (EPC) in Brussels (2015-2020), member of the High Council of the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence (2010-2013). Ambassador Pagoulatos holds a law degree from the Athens Law School, MSc and DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes scholar.
