Plamena Halacheva has been serving as the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia since 1 September 2022. Over the last fifteen years, her work has focused on EU external policy, in particular the European integration of the Western Balkans. Ms Halacheva has served a number of assignments in the region, notably as Head of the European Integration, Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation in Podgorica, Montenegro (2016-2021), the EU Delegation in Tirana, Albania (2013-2016) and at the European Commission Delegation/EUSR Office in Skopje, North Macedonia (2009-2011). Prior to her assignment in Belgrade, she served at the Secretariat-General of the European Commission and its Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR). Ms Halacheva holds a M.A. in European and International Studies from the European Institute of High International Studies, as well as Master degrees in Project Management and Information and Communication.
