Commander (Eng) Iason Dimou is a senior officer of the Hellenic Navy with more than
28 years of service. Graduating top of his class from the Hellenic Naval Academy in
2001, he later earned two graduate degrees from MIT—a Naval Engineer’s Degree and
an SM in Mechanical Engineering. He has over a decade of sea experience as an
engineer officer aboard warships and more than six years as a naval architect at
Hellenic Navy Naval Bases, where he led departments for ship surveys, quality control,
ISO compliance, and naval design. His career includes managing major programs for
procurement, construction, modernization, and repair of warships, as well as serving at
the Hellenic Ministry of Defence in the General Directorate for Defence Investments and
Armaments as Project Manager for Greece’s EDIDP/EDF initiatives. He is a senior
lecturer at the Hellenic Naval Academy (since 2011, Marine Engineering Department)
and at the University of West Attica (since 2022, MSc Programme for UxV desing).
Since 2024, he has been the Director of Defence Ecosystem Development and
Technology Transfer at the Hellenic Centre for Defence Innovation, driving innovation
and technology integration within Greece’s defence sector.
