Michalis Mathioulakis is an Energy Strategy Analyst. He is the Academic Director of the Greek Energy Forum, a Research Associate at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Dept. of International & European Studies of the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. As an analyst, he is providing consulting services regarding energy strategy, management, and international relations for institutions and organizations associated with the energy sector. He has substantial working experience in the financial sector as a stock and derivatives broker and analyst, as well as the private education sector as a lecturer of Finance and Risk Analysis in Executive MBA programs. He has been an associate to the Thucydides Chair in Strategic Studies in the University of Macedonia providing energy reports on MENA and Eastern Med to the Hellenic National Defense General Staff and has also been the Research Director of the Hellenic Energy Regulation Institute. He has published several of his research in collective volumes, scientific journals and international conferences, and his analyses and opinions on energy issues are frequently hosted in Greek and international news outlets. He has a PhD in Energy Strategy with the Department of International Studies in the University of Macedonia. He also holds an MSc in Energy Strategy, Law & Economics from the University of Piraeus, an MSc in Strategic Studies from the University of Macedonia, a BA in Economics, and a BA in Political Science. His research focuses on the correlation between Balance of Power and Energy Security and in particular on the security dilemmas generated by shifts in energy security.
