RT HON PROFESSOR CHARLES HENDRY CBE Charles Hendry Member of Parliament for High Peak (1992-97) and Wealden (2001-2015). He was Minister of State for Energy & Climate Change from May 2010 until September 2012. On leaving Ministerial office, Prime Minister David Cameron appointed him as his Trade Envoy to Central Asia. He was awarded the CBE in Her Majesty the Queen’s 2019 Birthday Honours for his work in supporting British Trade in the former Soviet Union. He was also appointed an Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh Business School. Charles has been President of the British Institute of Energy Economics;Vice-President of the Energy Institute;a Distinguished Fellow at the Atlantic Council;Patron of the Nuclear Institute;and sits on the advisory boards of the think-tank Bright Blue and the Conservative Environment Network. He lectures and advises across the energy sector. He has also undertaken various roles on behalf of Government, including writing the Independent Review of Tidal Lagoons in 2017.
