George Zanias is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eurobank S.A., Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Banking Association (HBA) (2025 – 2027) and Professor Emeritus of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He has served as the Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece (NBG), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Banking Association (HBA), Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors at the Ministry of Finance, General Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Chairman and Scientific Director of the National Economic Institute (KEPE). He has also served as a Chairman of the Board of Directors of Real Estate S.A and PICAR S.A, as a Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at ETVA Industrial & Business Parks, as a Director of the Boards of Directors of Hellenic Exchanges (EXAE), the Public Debt Management Agency (PDMA), General Bank and CHIPITA S.A. Outside Greece, he has been a member of Eurogroup, Euro Working Group, Economic and Financial Committee of the EU (EFC), as well as on the Boards of Directors of EFSF/ESM and the European Banking Federation. He holds a Doctorate from Oxford University.
