Rade Basta

Minister of Economy of the Republic of Serbia

Born in 1979 in Novi Sad. He finished the "Pane Djukic" High School of the Interior in Sremska Kamenica in 1998. Basta graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Novi Sad in 2002 and completed his master's degree in economics at the University Business Academy in 2012.

His first job was at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade from 1998 to 2005.

He was elected advisor to the director of public utility company "Elektrovojvodina" in his hometown in July 2013. He became a member of the Socialist Party of Serbia-United Serbia coalition in the Novi Sad City Assembly in 2016.

He held the position of Deputy Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport from July 2016 to 2018. In December 2016, he was elected Director of the Football Club Radnicki from Nis, and he remained in that position until November 2017.

From September 2018, he has been the Director of the Public Utility Company "Beogradske Elektrane". In the parliamentary elections held in April 2022, Basta was elected deputy of the Socialist Party of Serbia-United Serbia-Greens of Serbia coalition in the Parliament of Serbia.

He received the "Captain Misa Anastasijevic" award for his contribution to the development of entrepreneurial and social creativity in the field of the economy in 2013 and the “Most Successful Businessman” award for his contribution and exceptional commitment to work, dedication and efficiency in the energy sector in 2022.

He speaks English, Russian and German.
