NICOS CHRISTODOULAKIS Professor Emeritus of Economic Analysis at the Athens University of Economics & Business. Research Associate at the Hellenic Observatory and Visiting Professor, LSE (2018-2019). Graduated as Electrical engineer in the National Technical University of Athens (1975) and then worked in production sites and automation. Received an MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge, then employed as Research Fellow until 1986. Visiting Professor at CERGE (Prague), University of Cyprus, and the Polytechnic of Crete. Research Fellow in the European University (Florence), Tinbergen Institute (Amsterdam) CEPR and LBS (London). Honorary Degree from the University of Patras in 2025. During 1993-2007 he served as Secretary General for Research & Technology, Economic advisor to the Prime Minister, Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister of Finance, Minister for Development, Finance minister. Chair of the Ecofin Council (2003 S1) and of the Euro-group (2002 S2 - June 2003 S1). Caretaker minister for the Economy, Shipping and Transport (2015). Author of several research papers and books on macroeconomics, business cycles, and economic growth. Among them: “Greek Endgame: From austerity to growth or Grexit” (2015, Rowman & Littlefield), “How Crises shaped Economic Ideas and Policies” (2015, Springer), and “An Economic Analysis of Conflicts” (2016, Springer). Coauthor of the report “Rebooting the Greek Economy” (Dianeosis, 2018). His study “Greece and the Maastricht Treaty: The Fortress That Wasn’t” was published by MacMillan (2023). Editor of the collective book on the “Economics of Dictatorship”, published in 2025 by the Greek Parliament.
