Konstantinos Zafeiris was born in Tripoli, Arcadia. He is a graduate of the Heraklion Pedagogical Academy, the Department of Biology of the University of Crete, and the Department of Primary Education of Democritus University of Thrace.

In 2007, he successfully completed his doctoral dissertation entitled “Comparative Analysis of the Social and Biological Structures of Isolated Populations in the Prefecture of Rhodope.” He was appointed as a Lecturer at the University in 2011. He is currently Professor of Demography at the School of Humanities of Democritus University of Thrace.

His research interests include the analysis and modelling of mortality and health—particularly stochastic analysis models—fertility, population projections, demographic challenges, anthropological demography, and paleodemography. He has published numerous scientific articles and studies on Greece, the Greek regions—especially Eastern Macedonia and Thrace—as well as on European and global populations.

He serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals and has participated in many research projects related to the demographic characteristics of human populations.
