Veronica Vella is a researcher at the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Criminology at the University of Liège. Her work focuses on the political and legal frameworks of strategic trade controls and related regimes, with expertise spanning WMD non-proliferation, dual-use items trade, export controls in research contexts, research security, foreign direct investment rules, and CBRN risk mitigation. She provides external expertise to various institutions and contributes to outreach initiatives in these fields. At the University of Liège, Veronica advises the Dual-Use Unit on implementing an Internal Compliance Programme and played a significant role in establishing the European Export Control Association for Research Organisations (EECARO), the first European association dedicated to export control in research. Her publications appear in peer-reviewed journals, handbooks, and EU expert reports. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Startegic Trade Control.
