Stelios Angeloudis was born in Thessaloniki, Ano Poli, where he continues to reside. He is a graduate of the Law Department of the Military School of Officers Corps (SSAS) and served in the Hellenic Armed Forces, reaching the rank of Captain, before resigning to practice law. In 1985, he obtained a second degree from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in Public Law. He has served as Special Secretary for Sports of Macedonia–Thrace at the Ministry of Culture and as Secretary General for Commerce at the Ministry of Development. In these roles, he contributed to the development of major sports infrastructure projects and to shaping the institutional framework for e-commerce in Greece. His long-standing career is closely linked to sport and the Olympic Movement. He has served as President of the Hellenic Handball Federation, has been a member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee since 2001 and currently serves as First Executive Vice President. He is the founder and first President of the Hellenic Olympic Academy, a member of the Organising Committee for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, and the founder of the first Olympic Museum in Greece. In 2010, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Thessaloniki Port Authority. During his tenure, the redevelopment of Pier I, the opening of the port to the city, and Thessaloniki’s integration into the cruise tourism network were achieved. In October 2023, he was elected Mayor of Thessaloniki, placing at the core of his administration cleanliness, urban greening, school infrastructure, social cohesion, international outreach, and the modern, transparent operation of the Municipality.
