Ms. Cristina Iampieri, an Italian national, currently serves as Head of the UNODC Passenger and Cargo Control Programme (PCCP), based in Istanbul, Türkiye, a position she has held since June 2024. The PCCP is UNODC’s flagship global initiative supporting Member States to strengthen border security and facilitate legitimate trade through risk management, inter-agency cooperation, and advanced targeting capacities at air, land, and maritime ports. She brings over eighteen years of experience in international security, rule of law, and programme management within the United Nations system. Her work has taken her across multiple regions, including long-term assignments in Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Haiti, Italy, and the United States, reflecting extensive field and headquarters experience in complex operational environments. Before joining the United Nations, Ms. Iampieri worked in the private sector with consultancy and law firms in Italy and abroad. She holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Bologna and is fluent in Italian, English, and French.
