Selva Demiralp is a Professor of Economics at Koç University and the Yapı Kredi Chaired Professor of Economic Research. In this role, she conducts and leads research on topics of particular relevance to the banking sector. She is also the team leader of the Koç University Survey of Household Inflation Expectations. After earning her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, Demiralp worked as an economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 2000 to 2005. She subsequently joined the Department of Economics at Koç University, where her research focuses on monetary policy, central banking, and financial markets. Over the past decade, Demiralp has maintained extensive engagement with central banks, including the Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank, and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. She has also served as a consultant to the European Central Bank. Her analysis of the Turkish economy is frequently featured in major international media outlets, including The New York Times, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and The Economist. She writes regular commentary for BBC Turkish News and Dünya, a Turkish newspaper specializing in finance and economics.
