Marios Themistocleous is Deputy Minister of Health of the Hellenic Republic. A Νeurosurgeon by training, he graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he also obtained his PhD, and holds an MSc in Healthcare Management.
He served as Secretary General for Primary Health Care from 2020 to 2023 and directed the national rollout of Greece’s COVID-19 vaccination program, leading one of the largest public health operations in the country’s history. He has held several key institutional roles, including President of the National Central Health Procurement Authority and member of the Government’s coordination committee for the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his current role, he oversees key reforms aimed at strengthening the resilience of Greece’s health system, improving hospital services and patient access, and advancing innovation and investment in healthcare and life sciences.
