Filippos Farmakis holds a B.S. in Physics (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. (National Polytechnic School of Grenoble, 1997 and 2000). He gained industrial experience at UNAXIS SA (France) in thin-film PECVD process engineering and R&D leadership for the displays industry, then continued applied research at NCSR “Demokritos” on chemical-sensing field-effect devices and thin-film transistors. He later served as Head of Technology at Heliosphera SA, supporting thin-film PV module manufacturing on a 60 MW production line. Since 2012, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Democritus University of Thrace, where he serves as Professor (2024), with research interests in microelectronic technology, thin films, and lithium-ion battery cells. He is the founder of the university spin-off INEM Technologies.
