Ambassador of Sweden to the Hellenic Republic

H.E. Mr. Håkan Emsgård Ambassador of Sweden to the Hellenic Republic Håkan Emsgård was appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Greece in January 2025.

Prior to coming to Greece, he was Ambassador to Egypt (2021-2025). He has served as Ambassador to the Netherlands and to the international organisations in the Hague (2010-2015), with parallel accreditation to Luxembourg (2012-2014). Ambassador Emsgård has held various positions at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Director General and Head of the EU Department (2005-2010). He has also served at the Prime Minister’s office, the Ministry of Education, the Finance Ministry and at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.
