Maria (Marily) Mexi is a labour and social policy expert, academic, and advisor who works across international organisations, governments, and universities in Geneva, Brussels, New York, and beyond. Trained at Oxford and the London School of Economics, she specialises in the future of work, artificial intelligence, just transitions, and labour governance in the context of international trade and global supply chains — with a sustained focus on decent work, labour rights, and social dialogue. Senior Policy Advisor and Research Lead at the Geneva Graduate Institute, where she teaches master's and executive education programmes on labour migration, just transitions, and International Labour Organization governance, she is concurrently a Visiting Fellow at the Global Labor Institute of Cornell University. She has consulted for the International Labour Organization and other organisations across the United Nations system, authoring policy publications on social dialogue, labour migration, the platform economy, and youth employment, co-led a joint research programme with the World Economic Forum and the Geneva Graduate Institute TASC Platform, and served as Special Advisor to the President of Greece. Earlier in her career she worked as an Employment and Social Policy Expert on European Union technical assistance programmes, advising Labour Ministries across Asia and Africa. Her research and advisory work engage governments, international organisations, and employers' and workers' organisations across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the United States, contributing to high-level policy debates across global governance hubs and international forums.
