Donato Raponi is an economist and expert in European taxation policy with extensive experience in both public administration and international advisory roles. He began his career at the Ministry of Finance as a Tax Inspector, serving from 1976 to 1979.
In 1979, he joined the European Commission, where he worked until 2017 and held several management positions, primarily in the field of taxation. During his tenure, he was involved in key areas such as VAT, tax policy economic analysis, excise duties, energy and environmental taxes, tax administration, and the fight against tax fraud.
Following his service at the European Commission, he worked as Senior Advisor on Taxation Policy at Deloitte from 2017 to 2019. Since 2019, he has been working as an independent international tax consultant.
Donato Raponi holds a Master’s degree in European Tax Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He is also an Honorary Professor of European Tax Law at Brussels Business Management School. In addition to his professional work, he is the co-author of the book Arriva l’euro (Carmenta Editor) and has published numerous articles on tax-related matters.
