George Dikaios

George Dikaios is a Marie Curie Individual Fellow at Leiden University in the Netherlands. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy (at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). His research focuses on the climatization of the EU policies, with an emphasis to the shipping sector, and the broader ocean and maritime governance. His research has been funded through several institutions, such as the European Union (Marie Curie Actions, HORIZON, Erasmus+), the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund, the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and UNICEF. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal 'Ocean and Society' and he acts regularly as an external advisor in research and innovation projects on climate and shipping. He has been a Future Think Tank Leader at NEXT-Empowering Future Leaders (ISPI, OECD & Bocconi University) and a Young Ocean Leader at the 9th Our Ocean Conference. His book is titled 'EU Climate Diplomacy towards the IMO and ICAO' (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024). He is Assistant Professor-elect at the Department of Port Management and Shipping at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
