Dr. Konstantinos Siomos is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who was recently elected Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Thessaly, focused on adolescent Internet addiction, and a Master’s in Social Psychiatry – Child & Adolescent Psychiatry from the University of Ioannina. From September 2008 to April 2010, Dr. Siomos planned and launched Greece’s first specialized outpatient service for Internet addiction at ‘Hippokration’ General Hospital of Thessaloniki. In January 2019, he established a specialized psychiatric outpatient service for gaming disorder at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Thessaly. In 2008 and 2011, Dr. Siomos received honorary invitations from the Standing Committee on Research and Technology and the Standing Committee on Equality, Youth and Human Rights of the Hellenic Parliament, respectively, to present his research on adolescent Internet addiction and to propose a national policy for preventing risks associated with new technologies for youth. In 2026, he also served on the expert committee of the Central Health Council, contributing to the development of guidelines on the use of smartphones and social networking applications by minors under the age of 13. He has authored more than 30 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and has delivered numerous presentations at both national and international scientific conferences. He taught Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Medical School of the University of Thessaly from 2021 to 2024. Since September 2016, he has also been actively involved in teaching across five Master of Science (MSc) programs at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the University of Thessaly. Dr. Siomos is the founding member and President of the Hellenic Association for the Study of Internet Addiction Disorder. Since its establishment in November 2008, he has participated in more than 600 public briefings and educational activities for health and education professionals in Greece and Cyprus. He has also chaired the organizing committee of five international conferences on Internet addiction and has edited three collective volumes on: 1. Research, prevention, and treatment of Internet-related risks (2011) 2. Internet addiction and other high-risk online behaviors (2012, Livani Publications) 3. Benefits and risks in the use of the Internet (2013) Currently, Dr. Konstantinos Siomos provides clinical services as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in Thessaloniki, Larissa, and Karditsa.
